Perfect 5 Day Perhentian Islands

Day 1: Arrival

Fly to Kota Bharu, transfer to Kuala Besut jetty, speedboat to Perhentian Besar, settle into resort, afternoon beach relaxation and first snorkel

Days 2-3: Snorkel & Explore

Morning snorkel trips to best coral sites, swim with sea turtles, island hopping to hidden beaches, try diving or just relax on the beach, sunset watching

Day 4: Water Taxi Adventure

Take water taxi to Perhentian Kecil, explore different beaches and snorkel spots, lunch at beachfront restaurant, return to Besar for final sunset

Day 5: Departure

Morning swim or final snorkel, speedboat back to mainland, transfer to Kota Bharu or continue Malaysia journey

Yes! The snorkelling is incredible and suitable for children who can swim. Perhentian Besar has family-friendly resorts with calmer beaches. The islands are small and safe. Best for families with children aged 6+ who enjoy water activities.

Fly to Kota Bharu (east coast Malaysia), then 1-hour taxi to Kuala Besut jetty, followed by 30-45 minute speedboat to the islands. Some visitors travel overland from KL or Penang (long journey). Boat schedule depends on weather.

Ranges from budget beach bungalows to mid-range resorts. Nothing super luxurious - the islands are rustic and focused on nature. Perhentian Besar has better family resorts. Book ahead for peak season (June-August).
